The operation of the University is governed by a range of Commonwealth and State legislation and by the University's statutes, by-laws, regulations, rules and policies. It is important that students are aware of these as they affect many aspects of their experience at the University. For example, there is a Charter of Student Rights and Responsibilities, approved by the Senate (the University's governing body) which provides important information about students' rights and what is expected of them while they are enrolled at UWA. Students have a responsibility under the Charter to make themselves aware of and comply with the statutes, regulations, rules and policies of the University that apply to them. As part of the enrolment process students are also required to sign a declaration on-line agreeing to abide by these. The University Policies website is designed to help students and staff access information about the University's legislative and policy framework. Other important sources of information are the University Handbook and the University Calendar. The following is a list of policies that students may wish to access, grouped under headings to reflect the student lifecycle. The list is not exhaustive. These and other University Policies can be reached through the search page on this site. Help with understanding policies can be provided through Faculty student offices.
